Huwaei's CFO Meng Wanzhou released in Canadian prison for nearly 3 years, China released two Canadian citizens
Huawei's Chief Financial Officer Meng Wanzhou, who has been in prison in Canada since December 2018, has been released. Now she is returning to her homeland China. The court has discharged Meng in a case of extradition to the US.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has informed that after Meng was detained in Canada, China had detained two Canadian citizens, including a diplomat, on charges of espionage. After Meng was released, China released both the citizens.
British Columbia Supreme Court associate chief justice Heather Holmes has vacated the extradition proceedings against Meng over Meng, the daughter of Huawei founder Ren Zhengfei. After this, Canada's Justice Department has said that Meng may leave the country. Within hours, Meng left for the Chinese city of Shenzhen in a special Air China flight.
Justin Trudeau has told that two Canadians imprisoned in China, Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig, are returning to Canada after flying from China. Let us tell you that on August 11, businessman Spavor was sentenced to 11 years in prison by a Chinese court on charges of espionage.
